🎓 Scholarship Update (Academic Year 2025–26):
The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS) is a flagship
Government of India scholarship aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker families.
The scholarship is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and helps students
continue higher education after Class 12 without financial burden.
💡 What is NSP Central Sector Scholarship (CSSS)?
The Central Sector Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) was introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India,
to encourage bright students to pursue higher studies. Under this scheme, scholarships are awarded to
students who have performed well in their Class 12 board examinations and belong to families with limited income.
The scholarship is provided every year till the completion of the student’s graduation or post-graduation,
subject to fulfilment of renewal conditions and satisfactory academic performance.
📌 Key Benefits of CSSS Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount (UG): ₹10,000 per year for the first three years of graduation.
- Scholarship Amount (PG): ₹20,000 per year for postgraduate studies.
- The amount is directly transferred to the student’s bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
- Financial support helps cover tuition fees, books, stationery, and other academic expenses.
🎯 Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?
To apply for the NSP Central Sector Scholarship 2025–26, students must meet the following eligibility conditions:
- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- The student must have secured above the 80th percentile in Class 12 board examinations
(from a recognised board such as CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards). - The student must be pursuing a regular full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course
in a recognised college or university. - The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹8,00,000.
- Students pursuing courses through distance mode or correspondence are not eligible.
- The student must not be receiving any other major government scholarship simultaneously.

🔍 Selection & Renewal Process
Selection under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme is purely merit-based and follows these steps:
- Shortlisting is done based on Class 12 percentile data provided by respective boards.
- Selected candidates are verified through the National Scholarship Portal.
- For renewal, students must secure at least 50% marks in the previous academic year.
- Attendance of minimum 75% is required for scholarship continuation.
